Frequently
asked questions

What are the limitations of the Final Draft 13 EDU trial?

The two limitations of the trial are the time limit, which is 22 weeks, and the restriction of only being able to use one computer at a time. After 22 weeks, you will be able to open any file you created during the trial, but the program will be in Reader Mode, and the files will not be able to be edited unless you purchase a license.

How do I switch from the trial to the full version?

After purchasing a license of Final Draft 13, you can open the trial, then go to Help in the menu bar and click Sign In, then enter your email and password. That will remove the time limit and allow full access to Final Draft 13.

I’m under 18. Can I use the trial?

Parents of K-12 Students Under 18 need to create a Final Draft in the name and email of the parent if the child is under the age of 18. Home School Students Parents and Educators need to create a Final Draft account in the name and email of the parent if the child is under the age of 18.

Can I sign up for the Final Draft 13 trial if I’ve owned a previous version of Final Draft?

Yes! Any users of Final Draft 12 or earlier are able to sign up and use the free trial, and edit files from older versions. At the conclusion of the trial, you will be able to open the files which you edited in the trial on any older version of Final Draft you have installed. Note: any FD13 specific features will not appear in the file if opened in an older version.
