“Winning the Big Break contest has been like traveling on a starship at warp speed. One second I was in a galaxy where I sat alone in a room with my computer and a bunch of people I made up in my head. The next second, I was in an alternate universe at a glamorous party where managers, agents and producers were asking to be introduced to my imaginary friends.”

Don't spend months writing that first draft only to find out that your idea is passé or your approach is unfocused. Discuss your idea over the phone with a professional before you write and know you are starting with the most industry-friendly material. Work out character arcs, second-act issues, and weak plot points so that when you sit down to write, you know exactly where you are going with your story. Provide a short synopsis or treatment, or just pitch your idea to the reader over the phone. Includes an MP3 of your conversation for future reference.

Basic or Extended Coverage

Basic Coverage $180
Extended Coverage $270

Already written a script and need feedback or a handle on where your script is in the process? Basic coverage is the perfect way to identify problem areas in your script. Basic coverage includes an industry standard one-page grade score sheet that evaluates the major elements of your screenplay on a grading scale of Excellent, Good, Fair or Poor. An additional two to three pages include notes about why the reader would choose to pass on or would recommend your screenplay in an industry setting along with suggestions and solutions for the issues found in the script.

Extended coverage includes the same elements covered by Basic Coverage along with in-depth notes and suggestions regarding story and plot, structure, characters, action, dialogue and writing. Weakness in general writing style, formatting, plot points, dialogue, and general appeal as a writing sample or produceable script are addressed and discussed in-depth. Specific suggestions for rewriting problem areas or fixing plot issues are also offered.

If your script receives a recommend grade, the reader's notes will focus on how to tighten the script and maximize its chances of success when sent to agents, managers or producers.

Work hand-in-hand with a reader to prepare your script for the marketplace. Our Development Tutorial Package allows you to use the same reader at a discounted price as you proceed through the writing, rewriting, and polishing process. The Development Tutorial Package starts with Extended Coverage, a one-hour phone consultation, and an MP3 recording of your discussion. Submit subsequent drafts of your script to the same reader and work through the rewrite process using more notes and half-hour discussions. Development Tutorial Packages are available in packs of 2, 3 or 4 consultations on drafts of the same script with the same reader. Your reader will work at a pace and style that suits your needs to help you identify problems with structure, pacing, dialogue, and plot. Notes coupled with phone consultations allow you to develop your screenplay with the reader, explain choices, explore new ideas, and have support throughout the writing process.

Have a reader construct a logline from your script $75

A logline is an important sales tool for your screenplay. Often writers are tempted to give too much information in a logline, or they have difficulty capturing the essence of the story in a concise, compelling fashion. With ScriptXpert’s professional help, you will be able to express your story concept in a few powerful, concise lines constructed to appeal to agents, executives and managers.

Add on: Prepared Synopsis
(must be accompanied by coverage)

Have a reader construct a one-page synopsis from your script $150
Read more details

A synopsis is part of the standard coverage process and consists of a one- to two-page overview of the plot and characters of a submitted script. Buyers use the synopsis to get an idea of what and whom the script is about. However, summarizing your script into a one-page synopsis can be a difficult task, and screenwriters are often asked to provide a synopsis of a script before the entire screenplay is submitted. ScriptXpert provides a synopsis service as an add-on option with its Basic and Extended Coverage Packages to help you craft a document that captures your concept in an engaging and exciting manner.

Add on: Phone Consultation

Although both Basic and Extended Coverage give you extensive feedback on how to make your script market-ready, a phone consultation add-on gives you the opportunity to ask more questions of the reader, explore what-if scenarios, and discuss rewriting strategies. A phone consultation allows you to truly have a partner in the rewrite process, and the free MP3 of your conversation makes referring back to your consultation session a breeze. (Development Tutorial Packages give significant discounts on notes and phone consultations, giving you the freedom to work with your reader more often.) Make the most of your coverage, add a Phone Consultation today.
