3. Spotlight On: The 60th Annual Cannes Film Festival

Final Draft Attends the Cannes Film Festival
Final Draft, Inc. will be attending the 2007 Cannes Film Festival starting May 16. We are proud to report that Script magazine will be distributed at this prestigious festival.

Our Countdown to Cannes party held on May 2 was a success. The party was hosted at the New York Film Academy during the Tribeca Film Festival. Many filmmakers, producers and financers joined Final Draft to network with individuals heading from the Tribeca Film Festival to Cannes. Chopard, the event’s premier sponsor, displayed the 2007 Palme d’ Or, the highest prize given to a competing film at the Cannes Film Festival. Other event sponsors included Reel Indie Pictures, International Luxury Society, 10 Cane Rum and more.

Slamdance accepts screenplays in every genre, on any topic, from every country around the world with the intention of bringing attention to the most talented emerging screenwriters and introducing them to the entertainment industry. The final submission deadline is May 18th. "Our goal is to breach the chasm between screenwriters and the industry,” says Peter Baxter, the president and co-founder of Slamdance, “and bring together those who are without the advantage of experience or representation and members of the industry looking for the next big thing." For submission forms, rules and regulations,

Introducing the New Screenwriting Competition That’s Truly Kosher
The American Jewish University (formerly The University of Judaism), known for its many prestigious programs, has launched The Bruce Geller Screenwriting Competition. Why is the Geller Screenwriting Competition different? The GSC only accepts screenplays with a Jewish theme, angle, component or facet. “Judaism has a rich tradition of great storytelling,” says program director Stephanie Cornick. “Thanks to the Geller Screenwriting Competition, that tradition will continue to grow and flourish.” Best known as the creator of the Mission: Impossible TV series, Mr. Geller also wrote and produced for Have Gun, Will Travel and Rawhide, and wrote lyrics for the musicals Livin' the Life and All in Love. The common thread running through these productions is great storytelling—something GSC judges will be looking for. Top prize is $25,000 and first two runners-up receive $5,000.
