FINAL DRAFT™ Takes Visible Role in Support of Writer Talent During Awards Season
Final Draft, Inc. Sponsors Writer Event With Hollywood Reporter

February 8, 2007 (Los Angeles, CA) — Final Draft, Inc., the producer of the industry standard software for writing scripts, is sponsoring Hollywood Reporter presents Writers Guild of America, west Beyond Words “The Writers Talk” leading up to the Writers Guild Awards, which honor talented script writers for their work and accomplishments. Final Draft, Inc. elects to have a meaningful role in events of this caliber for precisely that opportunity, to recognize and honor writers who comprise the entertainment creative community. In fact, Final Draft, Inc. recently awarded the “Script magazine Write Responsibly Award” to Brett Morgen amidst the Sundance Film Festival. Final Draft, Inc. also awards writers each year at its annual Celebrating the Writer event where its Hall of Fame award is given to writers who have helped and/or influenced young, emerging talent--Hall of Fame award recipients include Sydney Pollack and Syd Field.

Pioneers in the marriage of all things scriptwriting, the management team at Final Draft, Inc. are attending the Writers Guild Awards, as well as preparing for their annual Scriptwriters Showcase in April. The Scriptwriters Showcase is the largest public gathering of professional working scriptwriters in the world. Speakers this year include Antwone Fisher and Simon Kinberg, on par with last year’s highlights which included Robert Downey, Jr.

An industry leading position and long-term success have only added to the vision and integrity of the company. At the core remains a focus on the writer, evident in every aspect of the ongoing “Why I Write” campaign, whereby Final Draft  brings to light the essence of the writers’ inspiration —which ranges from Bruce Feirstein’s “infinite curiosity…to explain and understand the world” to Bobby Moresco’s writing “for the memory of my mother and father…the future of my children and grandchildren…because someone once said I was good at it…it’s all I have to give…I hope tomorrow to have more.”

In this spirit, Final Draft CEO, Marc Madnick, says of the current awards season and writers in particular, “Final Draft was started by writers. Our continuing goal is to support and celebrate writers all over the world. For too long writers have gone unrecognized by the movie-going public, we want to shine a light on their efforts and accomplishments.”
