The Eighth Annual Fusion Film Festival, March 4, 2011
New York University, NY
The Fusion Film Festival, a student-run festival sponsored by NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, celebrates the collaboration between men and women filmmakers with a five-day festival that features student competitions, industry screenings, and panels focusing on the work of women within all aspects of the film industry. This year’s annual Fusion Film Festival was dedicated to the loving memory of the remarkably gifted film editor, Sally Menke, class of ’77 (BFA Kanbar Film and Television). A breakfast took place in her honor on March 5th, with friends, family and coworkers paying tribute to the legendary editor.
The Fusion Film Festival competition screenings awarded prizes to finalists in film, screenplay, and music video categories. Winners included Best Film: Ballarat Ghost Town by Sara Shaw; Best Undergraduate Director: Ella Hatamian for Pants; Best Graduate Director: Chananun Chotrungroj for Homecoming; Best Graduate Cinematography: Homecoming, Best Short Screenplay: One Summer, written by Julia Pugachevsky; and Best Feature Screenplay: Tongue of Cat written by Olivia Peterson.
